Tolulope Falokun, with Best Overall WASSCE Result & Top UTME Score Gets Scholarship

Tolulope Falokun, a former student of St. Louis College, Akure, Ondo state, who scored the best overall result in the 2011 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been awarded a scholarship by the Ondo State government to study Law at the Obafemi Awolowo University for doing the state proud as the overall best student in the 2011 WASSCE. She came tops by scoring A1 in all nine subjects she registered for. She went ahead to rank tops in the 2011 UTME scoring 290 and emerged as the second overall best student in the Post-UTME conducted by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife with 336 marks. Apart from the full scholarship, she would also benefit from the state government’s annual bursaries and other packages provided for Law students both in the University and the Law School.
Miss Falokun’s achievement is indeed a breath of fresh air coming after the public outcry that followed the release of the NECO and UTME results.
In the recently released 2012 UTME results, only 49.64% of the 1.5 million candidates that sat for the examination scored 200 and above, with only three candidates scoring 300 and above out of the total mark of 400.
Similarly, just about 10% of NECO’s 104,187 candidates obtained credits and above in five subjects including English and Mathematics. And in the 2011 WASSCE, only about 30% of the candidates got up to five credits including English and Mathematics.
Congrats!
