IN SPITE of last-minute efforts by the Federal Government to avert it, the seven-day warning strike ordered by the national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) would hold tomorrow in all university campuses across the country.
It also appears that government may expand the scope of its workers that are supposed to benefit from the recently approved minimum wage. Reason: Non-academic staffers in universities are now gearing up for another round of industrial dispute in an effort to benefit from the new scheme. They have threatened to go on another warning strike on October 3, a day after ASUU would have ended its own preliminary action, and to begin a full-scale strike on October 9.
