Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled Libya from 1969 until August this year, has been killed by forces loyal to the country's new government.
Gaddafi 69, was reportedly found hiding in a drain outside Sirte holding a Golden pistol, where he and and others had taken shelter after their convoy was hit by a Nato airstrike as it attempted to escape. Gaddafi was alive when captured and was later shot in the head and in both legs. He died in an ambulance on the way to hospital. One of Gaddafi's sons, Mutassim, was also killed having been hiding with his father
