Reverend King’s Death Sentence Appeal Delayed

An attempt by Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeuko (popularly known as Rev. King) to challenge the judgement of an Ikeja High Court, which sentenced him to death by hanging for murder, has been temporarily dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal, yesterday, dismissed King’s application after it found out that there were irregularities in his motion. The court pointed out that his application was not supported by the original notice of appeal and suggested that it would be better if the application was withdrawn and properly filed.
“We cannot take this application until we see the original notice of appeal,” the court said.
The court also said he had filed two different appeals, one dated June 23, 2008 and another December 1, 2010.
Presiding Judge, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, adjourned the case till April 4, 2012.
King was sentenced to death by hanging, in January 2007, by Justice Joseph Oyewole of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, for the murder of one Ann Uzor Ezeugo, a member of King’s church.
