A Nigerian tourist Martin Uchenna has been sentenced to death in malaysia by the High Court for trafficking in 27kg of cannabis . Uchenna, 32, was charged with two counts of trafficking in 14kg and 13kg of cannabis at the south-bound Sungai Dua toll plaza, Sungai Dua, about 10.45pm on August 29 last year.
it was gathered that police and Customs Department personnel had stopped a bus from Alor Star, and upon checking, they noticed Uchenna behaving suspiciously.All passengers were told to get down from the bus and claim their bags. Uchenna did not claim his two bags, one of which had a lock. Sniffer dogs were called in to sniff the bags, which were later found to contain the drugs. it was said that evidence showed that the accused had appeared anxious during the checks carried out by the police and the Customs Department officers. Two keys were found on the accused and it later turned out that they matched the lock on one of the bags. Uchenna was represented by Harpal Singh Gill in court.
